Levine Scholars
--from UNC Charlotte--a merit based scholarship for full tuition, room, board, and fees.  Applicants should have an unweighted GPA of 3.8-4.0 and score 1900-2400 on the three sections of the SAT or 29-36 on the ACT composite.  Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to community service and possess a capacity for ethical leadership.  Applicants must be nominated by their high school.

Coca-Cola Scholars--This is a nation-wide scholarship.  (250 scholarships will be awarded nationwide.  Applicants must be seniors planning to pursue a degree at an accredited post-secondary institution and have a 3.0 GPA at the end of their junior year.  Applicants may not be children or grandchildren of employees of Coca-Cola companies. Gates Millennium Scholars--Scholarships available for students who are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American.  Candidate must be a citizen of the United States, have a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.3, plan to enroll in an accredited college or university in the fall, have demonstrated leadership abilities, and have demonstrated financial need through the Federal Pell Grant program.  Applications are available online at

The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship--UNC Chapel HIll offers the Thomas Wolfe Scholarship which offers full undergraduate support for student writers.  The application form is available online at

Wake Forest University--offers several Merit-Based scholarships.  For more information about these scholarships visit

Create-A-Greeting-Card--$10,000 scholarship.  Applicants must submit a unique photo, piece of artwork, or computer graphic for the front of a greeting card.  Visit for more information. 

 Ron Brown Scholars--For African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society.  Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need.  Applications are available online at www.ronbrown.orgI

Inheritance of Hope--offers scholarships for students who parents are battling cancer or for students who are battling cancer.  Applications for several scholarships are available online at 

 Centennial Scholarship--From the College of Textiles at NC State University for students interested in the fields of engineering, business management, chemistry, polymer chemistry, forensics, medical fields, international studies, design, apparel, sourcing, fashion, merchandising, or retail.  The scholarship covers 50% of the basic in-state costs.  Oct 21 deadline.

North Carolina High School Athletic Association--Offers scholarship opportunities to student athletes.  For applications and more information about these opportunities

SunTrust Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes--Enter for a chance to win a $1000 scholarship.  One winner will be chosen every two weeks from October 25--May 9.  For more information visit

Horatio Alger Scholarship--scholarships available to seniors who plan to attend college to obtain a four year degree.  (Students may start their studies at a two year institution and then transfer).  Applicant should have financial need (less that $55,000 family income), be involved in community activities, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Application is available online at

Ronald McDonald House Charities--Scholarship available for students planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college, university, or technical school.

Aspiring Animation Professional--$1000 scholarship for students interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college.

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award--Award available to high school seniors who operate their own small business.

Jarman Family--Scholarship available to high school seniors whose parent(s) are full-time religious ministers in North and South Carolina.  Applicant should be planning to attend an accredited college or university.  Award is based on character, academic achievement, and need.

Sylvia Holmes--$500 scholarship available to high school senior females.  Applicants that have been or are participants in Girl Scouts will be looked on with favor.

Abbott and Fenner--$1000 scholarship.  Applicants will complete a 500-1000 word essay.

NC Hispanic College Fund--offers scholarships for graduating NC seniors of Hispanic background (one parent must be fully Hispanic or both parents must be half Hispanic).

Youth Volunteer Scholarship--$500 scholarship for student who over the past 2 years has completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer work.  GPA must be 3.5 or higher.

Odenza Marketing Group Volunteer Scholarship--$500 scholarship for student who has a 2.5 GPA or higher and who has contributed at least 50 hours of volunteer service over the last 12 months.

Peter Pasula Study Habits--$500 scholarship for senior planning to attend an accredited post-secondary institution in the fall of 2014.

Maple Leaf Dentistry--$500 scholarship for senior planning to attend college in the fall.  Applicant must have completed at least 100 hours of volunteer work over the last two years and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

General H. Hugh Shelton Leadership Scholarship--for NC State University.  $10,000 per year.  Applicant should exhibit strong areas of leadership.

The GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program annually awards roughly 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships totaling up to $40,000 per recipient.

The application for Golden LEAF Foundation’s scholarship program to attend NC’s 4-year colleges and universities is now available at deadline for applications is Sunday, March 1, 2015. 

In just a few months, North Carolina Retail Merchants Association (NCRMA) and its grocery division, the Carolinas Food Industry Council (CFIC), will give away $115,000 in scholarships through the Retail Consumer Alliance Foundation (RCA). 

From NCRMA, 6 students will each be awarded $2,500 towards the 2015-16 academic year.  From CFIC, 40 students will each be awarded $2,500 for the academic year.

Unlike traditional scholarship programs that only reward the highest level of academic achievement, NCRMA and CFIC will recognize students whose academic credentials fall within an average to above average range.  Applications and official transcripts must be received or post-marked by Monday, March 2, 2015.  To apply for a scholarship, go to:
